Man you've just saved me hundreds of $$$$$$! I hit a state of depression when I was searching the internet realizing the amount of money i was going to sink in my Jeep just to "maybe" fix it. I installed new plugs and wires because it needed them anyway, but it didn't touch the problem. I had people telling me it could be the crank position sensor, map sensor, bad PCM, spark plug and wires, distributor cap,or fuel filter, which of course required removing the fuel tank,..... that was full of gas. I was even told I may have bad gas.
My problem started when I was working out of town. After I got off of work it stalled at the stop light on the exit ramp after getting off of the interstate,it shut off, turned it over, it started, and pulled into the motel where I was staying across the street only to stall again before I could get parked. I had a Haynes book in the Jeep, but no tools. After reading I saw that the air filter could be the problem. I replaced it,..no change. When I went to get something to eat that night , it stalled and shut off "dash lights went out then on again" at a light after about 3 min driving. I got it started again and pulled into a gas station where it stalled and shut off again. I sat there for about 5 min, started it, then went back to the room with no problem, wondering if my Jeep going to break down while I was out of town. The next morning it did fine. When I was making my 2.5 hr trip back home it did fine for about an hour. I stopped to get gas and as I was pulling out of the station it stalled and shut off,....here we go again! I went thru 2 road construction zones. It went from 2 to 1 lane. When I had to slow down from 75 mph to 50 mph it started stalling and shutting off,... forcing me to have to pull over between cones "twice" just to get out of everybody's way. When I was almost home it started back firing, stalling, and shutting off thru out driving. No matter how much I tried to give it gas it always shut off,...which was probably why it was backfiring. After I finally made it back home I was relieved that I got it back home, but dumbfounded as to what was going on. Then I found this. I tried it and it worked.!!!
Anyone who has these similar problems try this! If it doesn't work then you only lost what 2 screws cost. If it does work then you saved a lot of money!!,...... thanks to the guy above. You the MAN!!!!
