can't get signals, even with sat phones

I guess that is why I can't get my cell phone to work anywhere, but in an urban area--or within 50 miles of one... except at odd times of day or when Jupiter is aligned with Mars, etc. So I guess that's why it doesn't work that well on aricraft, either. Mountains interfere with the signals on ground, too,
