I keep making this point that remains ignored. A wall receptacle safety ground is not earth ground. Safety ground is irrelevant to hardware protection. Same 'best' protection works on all homes - two wire receptacles or three.
Numerous reasons were posted that says why a receptacle safety ground is irrelevant. For example, the ground must be low impedance (ie 'less than 10 feet'). Ground wire must be separated from other non-grounding wires. Ground wire must not be inside metallic conduit. These and other reasons say why a safety ground does not make an earth ground connection.
OP's power strip has a ground indicator. It reports on a safety ground. That indicator cannot report on earth ground.
