1. I believe it is a one shot deal. You cannot pause or stop the dvd, eject the tape, put in another tape and start the recording again. But...did you try it?

If you had two separate units, a stand-alone VCR and a DVD recorder, you could do it.

2. Yes, buy the multi-region DVD player. No, there is no other way, regardless of what kind of TV you have.
