I know I would be better off getting the images from the DV tape, but I do not have a firewire cable @ the moment and am really just trying to make sure this particular camcorder is worth investing anymore time=money into.
When I choose "Tape" option in record mode, when I switch to playback mode all I'm getting is a blue screen.Even though it acts as though it is recording(I can hear the tape)In record mode.

As for the card.I am inserting it through a card reader(as well as having tried USB to see if that made a difference),but my computer just will not read the files.I've tried Quicktime,Media Player,VLC,Movie Maker and a series of Adobe's products I.E. Premiere Pro,After effects and Photoshop.I get a different kind of error message from all of them.

As for the config of my computer,Like I said it's running 32BIT XP (Pro w/ 2GB's of RAM w/ 15GB's of available Disc space).I do not believe this to be 'the' problem, but then again I wouldn't be on a forum if I knew for sure what the problem was happy

I have not tried a different card, yet. As I've only just received the camcorder, but was thinking that since I was able to record continuously w/o the screen freezing after the re-format that the card may not be the problem. This will be the next thing I do If I cannot get it going off suggestion from the net.Only thing is,I have a 'Magic Gate Pro' and all I seem to be able to find online are 'Pro Duo' that I've read elsewhere people w/ the same camcorder as me were having problems w/ incompatibility to the Samsung.

I have tried converting the files, but the actual converting programs that I have cannot 'read' the .AVI file.So no luck there.I also tried running it through 'virtualdub' as I was told it may be able to write an index for it,but again 'v-dub' was not able to read it.

I will try the sites you suggested and see if I can convert to a Windows Media file.I seriously doubt the converters will be able to read the files, though.

Thank you for trying to point me in the right direction, and I will post back if those converters helped ! happy
