Lets forget about previous PC's you have owned, You now own a modern PC running Windows 7. Click on the Windows icon in the lower left-hand corner, and type "power." Click on "Change what the power button does." from the search results. You can set the power button to do nothing, Sleep(save power), Hibernate(save more power), or Shutdown. I don't know what the default is on installing Windows 7, I've heard it is Sleep. Regardless, set your preferred option and all is well. A word to the wise, you own a $7000 computer, protect it with a good UPS. You could loose valuable data or even corrupt your hard drive if you lost power while data was being written to the hard drive.
