I retired and went from a PC to a 27 inch iMac

I agree with others that a laptop is not a replacement to a desktop. however, with trepidation i went to an iMac. I had a few days of frustration in switching, but now I wouldn't part with it. I am a semi-retired scientist, and am quite computer literate and enjoyed my PC nd never thought i would switch. If you want, you can load MS office onto a mac. I am now a busy consultant and have also a need for a lot data processing and an iMac does the job for me.... ( am not much of a gamer either). After that, just buy a simple laptop that you can afford. good for portability. Lots of great ones on the market.
