Question about 7" net book with android 2.2 OS by soundlogic

First off, I live in an area which does not have access to cable or broadband internet. I currently own a macbook and a macbook pro. To get online I have a novatel wireless usb760 modem through millenicom and I also use my HTC hero to get online using the easytether app. Now for my dilemma. For Christmas I've got my son a little android powered netbook and I need to figure out the easiest way to get connected with what I've got or if it isn't possible to use those what's my best alternative? My ignorance of the android 2.2 OS is probably the problem. Maybe there's an app for this? The device is wi-fi 802.11B/G compatible (whatever that means) but there is no wi-fi here. Any help would be much appreciated.
