I have AOL web accelerator. I have timed it very carefully and in my opinion it DOES give you a speed increase of about 30%, not the 5X they advertise. BTW, this isn't a 'speed' increase but an increase at which temporary internet files reassemble themselves in your browser.
Its the same technology for AOL, Earthlink and NetZero. A Japanese company leases the technology to these companies. They each call it something different but its the same thing. Claims of "We're Faster Than They Are" are simply false.
In regard to Netscape.com, their claim of $5.00 off on web accerator simply isn't true. After the 30 days are over you pay $15.00/m for their service with Web Accelerator. (in addition to whatever other 'extras' you wanted.
