http://www.videomaker.com/community/forums/topic/downloading-the-timedate-metadata-from-minidv is typical where some new user looks at the file properties on the common machine without a CODEC. But it's in the data.

AGAIN, there are some that should never worry about all this and use video capture to get what they want. They need to get their work done and won't be interested in all this.
