Hi Wes_V.
Thank you for your tips regarding my problem.
Let me put you fully in the picture regarding this.
The computer is the one that I started with, I got a new one a few yrs ago that is running Windows Vista, and I am on the internet with a BT Home Hub.
I was hoping to connect the old machine to the BT hub,I purchased an ethernet lead a ethernet to usb adapter but when I ran the BT start up disk it did not recognise any device on the computer.
I purchased an Ethernet PCI Lan Adapter complete with the Driver and fitted this.
It was at this point that the machine went into Safe Mode and I uninstalled the Windows Disk.
On rebooting the computer I ran the BT disk but it would not run because the screen resolution was not high enough, it is set at 19 colours and I can't change it to 256.
However since reading your posting I have done what you suggested, I found that the icons that were flagged were, PCI Ethernet Controller, and PCIC or Compatable PCMCIA Controller.
I have deleted both of them and removed the PCI Lan Adapter from the computer but I still fail to alter the colour to 256 colours.
I hope this will give you a clearer picture of the situation.
The idea was to get the old matchine on line for my wife to use.
Thanks again.
Yours
Butchbutler.
