A few months ago I encountered Zero Access for the first time. What a mess. No free tools fix this one and if you don't have a full Windows CD/DVD and a paid version of a specific tool, you won't be fixing it. More at link.

You mentioned there was viral or other damage so what's different here? Why must it be fixed?
