not enough memory !!!!!

the actual message says. there is not enough memory avaliable to run this program.......quit one or more programs, and then try again.

this happens when i try run any game and even when i try to put windows updates on my pc. This is a night mare and frustrating,,, can anyone shed light and a resolve on this.thanks
