Yeah, no kidding about the large sync app. CompanionLink for $50. Worth it if it doesn't break with updates to Windows/Office or the PDA/Android OS.
I'm assuming from your reply item#2 that Android actually has a built-in calendar. In any case, a popular non-native installable alternative is DejaOffice (for free). Hopefully, it doesn't fall too short of PalmOS. Like I said, I don't think I'm too set on Palm-like functionality since I seem to have gotten over the functional differences in moving to Outlook and native iOS Personal Information Management suite (apart from the mentioned shortcomings).
