Republican Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone proposed that 13 mostly conservative, rural counties in Southern California should break ties with the rest of the state.
Viability: The political will is certainly there, but it would be a logistical mess. Stone's chief of staff said that they were "flooded with people wanting to volunteer and help" after the proposal to secede passed 4-0.
