Before we get started, remember this is a very old OS. It predates Windows XP and carries with it all the baggage of Windows NT administration. That is, Microsoft told us to take classes, but books and more for NT and 2000. Fast forward to today and people don't want to do all that.

Since there is no system restore for this old OS you can try the usual.

Boot SAFE MODE then off to the device manager to remove that device.

And while is SAFE MODE use HIJACKTHIS to delete what entries belong to Linksys.

Sorry but if you ask me what safe mode is, this tells me you don't want Windows 2000. It's too rough on users.
