Quicken

Normally you would update these data files by moving to a newer version of Quicken which would automatically convert them when you first opened them.

In your case, you may have left it a little late. Perhaps if you could find version 6 of Quicken for Mac, install it and convert your data file to that version, then move up until you get to the current version of Quicken.

What may be a problem is your backup system. You can buy a USB floppy drive which will work with your iMac G5 so the actual transfer of the data is not a major problem.

Install the current version of Quicken onto your iMac, transfer the data files and see if they can be updated without stepping through all the other versions of Quicken. It can't hurt any, you still have the backup disks and you would be working with a copy on the iMac.
