They were trying to use some app that had a TRIAL PERIOD. And they wanted to completely uninstall it so they could reset the trial period. If some cleaner or uninstaller actually worked, then we would see no trial period for software again.

Instead they would have to implement worse trial systems such as watermarking and other limitations. (Oops, they do that today!)
