from your post in another forum I understand you don't BOOT from the recovery CD, but just put it in the drive. Then e:\ isn't your CD-drive, but your erased (scrubbed) hard disk. That makes much more sense.
The right procedure:
1. Put the CD in the drive.
2. Boot and immediately go into the BIOS-setup (don't know how to do that on a Vaio, but it should be on the screen or in the documentation. Usually it's a key like F1 or F10 or del or esc, or some combination).
3. Find the page with the definition of the boot sequence and change it to boot from the CD first. Leave the BIOS while saving changes.
4. On reboot it will boot from the recovery drive. Now do what you need to do.
