The only Windows 8 available is the consumer preview from Microsoft. So that's all you can try.
If it doesn't your options are:
1. Don't run Windows 8
2. Wait till VMWARE supports it. http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2006859 says they are busy to update VMWARE so it will do.
3. Try another virtual system manager like Oracle's VirtualBox
4. Install it in a multi-boot configuration
5. Install it on seperate machine.
What you choose depends on HOW MUCH you need it.
