I can't use the hardware repair option, because its out of warranty and Acer said they would charge $460 to fix it, no matter what's wrong with it, which is far more than the laptop is worth. Therefore, I can only use a software solution. And again, I agree with what you said above that it has to be software otherwise it wouldn't work perfectly in safe mode.
