1. Unplug all USB things and try again.

2. Do the Generic Reset noted in the Laptop Troubleshooting forum at http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19681_102-352085/welcome-to-the-laptop-troubleshooting-forum-at-cnet/?tag=contentBody;threadListing

And try again.

Next time let's hear the make, model number just in case it's one of the known bad models.
