Cnet downloader fills my machine with crapware I dont want

I just spent the better part of two hours getting rid of all the instances of "Claro-search" I know I received this little package while I was downloading something as an update shown on TechTracker. I'm quite certain I won't use the CNET download feature again - ever. I'll go to the website for the individual app and download from there. I'll also tell everyone who will listen to avoid the CNET download process. I'm usually very careful whenever I download anything from any website, and I thought I was doing the same with this download, but I missed one little trick, and got stuck with Claro. When I searched for removal methods, I was confronted with the fact Claro was considered malware! If that's the case, CNET shouldn't expect much support from me.
