IF (a) you can get out the hard disk, (b) it has a standard filesystem like fat32 and (c) it uses a standard format (like avi with a well-known codec) and (d) the hard disk still is fine, THEN - in principle - you should be able to copy and view those movies on your PC.

Since you didn't tell about these 4 conditions (well, you couldn't yet), all I can say is MAYBE. But I'd like to add: PROBABLY NOT.

Didn't that recorder (you didn't mention the model or link to the user manual or technical manual on the Grundig site) have a backup option?
