Canon SX20 HS - Sony HX20v
You will likely be happy with either camera.
The Canon has 12 MP and the Sony has 16 MP.
Some will expect the Sony to have greater detail, but not so.
Both use the same size sensor assembly but the Sony uses smaller megapixels and they are more crowded.
This results in more noise. To cut down on noise, Sony is too aggressive with the noise reduction firmware and if you view the images at full size you will see that small things like blades of grass appear smudged.
If you do not print large pictures you will not notice the loss of detail.
The Canon SX50 HS is a clear winner over SX260 HS and the Sony HX20v.
A photo enthusiasts will love the SX50. But it is expensive.
