I've never had a problem with Amazon

Amazon has had my email address for over a year, so do Tiger Direct, Frys, Micro Center, and CVS, but I almost never get spam. Craig's list and Ebay are different because you're soliciting emails by trying to sell something to the public. With these I set up a junk email account with other than my ISP (e.g. Juno), so I don't get inundated with spam. If you publish your email address in a public forum, you're just asking for a whole lot of spam, some from, ah, less than up and up sources. Before I wised up years ago I once got a solicitation from someone in China wanting to lease a sex slave for $3000 a year. mischief
