I also have a Dell studio
The answer to the moving curser may be true of most laptops as this is the first one that I have used without a trackball. I solved it two ways, first with an external USB keyboard which makes it go totally away for good. However when I travel by plane I choose not to carry a keyboard seperately, so I just make sure I never let a thumb or anyother part of my hand touch the touchpad as that moves the curser and changes where I am writing forcing me to make corrections. It took me awhile to realize that I was causing the probem, but at times I still do it. I suppose the touch pad is in a logical position but it is right where my thumbs or even part of my hand wants to rest.
