Optical Block problem as well!
I have the KDF50WE655 with the same problem as the others who have posted here. Sent message to Customer Care and got the tired old, "Sorry" you were unable to take advantage of the extra warranty period. That is BS! The product is defective which they have admitted to. FIX THE SETS WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THAT PROBLEM OR BETTER YET, REPLACE THEM WITH A NEW SET THAT WILL NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM!
The Sony rep has requested that we send a message to a guy named Tony. I have done that with no reply as yet.
Sign me up for any lawsuit. I am in Arizona.
