I'm no Dell/HP/Gateway cheerleader. But I've restored quite a few of thier machines. They are not the hell described. They have excellent driver access. Most HD's are pnp. Restore disks can miss a driver here or there. However, if you look at the disk via windows explorer you often can find the missing driver. Then, you should go to the companies website and update the restored files(for they are old) via the machines serial number/ model / etc.
