What was your reason for replacing the HD?

If youn just replaced with a bigger drive and want the new to to be the same as the old one then you need to image the old one. Software to do that isn't expensive and it's good to have. Files and data can be copied from drive to drive but applications need to be installed. I used Acronis Tru Image when I added an SSD to my laptop. I purchase a kit that came with the SSD drive and the software came with it. Acronis is $50.00 and works drive to drive. It copies all files, data and applications.
