Part of my work involves DVRs in some commercial application. We get to talk to drive makers and lucky me was able to toss out questions to the makers about how the hybrid degrades over time.

It's sad that I couldn't write an article about all of this but in short as the flash fails, it reverts back to a plain old HDD.
