Assuming these folders aren't on the Internet (webmail), but on your hard disk, our old saying "You only lose what you didn't backup" seems to apply.

Of course, it's possible that only some table of contents is damaged and all data still is present on your hard disk, ready for some recovery (like import or copy). But you're the only one who can have a look on that disk to see if that's the case.
All you've got to know: where did/does WLM store my mails. That's essential knowledge to make a backup also, by the way.
