Thanks for the response.
Going through your query, I believe that you may have more than one partition for your primary operating system. I would suggest that the Operating System be limited to the primary partition, as per standard Dell procedure.

Ideally, the primary partition (C:) should contain the Windows Installation Directory.
The Recovery (D:) is intended to be a hidden partition that stores your computer's base factory image.

So if a clean installation helps you to restore this operating mechanism, I would suggest you to go ahead.
But don't forget to back up your data first, as a clean OSRI cannot be reversed.
