DMD Chip issue

In case anyone is wondering, this symptom is caused by a faulty DMD chip. This is the Digital Micromirror Device. The problem is that moisture is getting into the device and causing the micromirrors to corrode in one position.

I work for another manufacture that had the same issue on their projectors. The DMD chip is made by Texas Instruments. If it's the same symptom for a different model, I would say you have a right to be upset about it. There was a recall on the chip that was causing all the problems. Apparently that's not the only chip that suffers from this issue.

I can't say for sure that the Samsung TVs use the same DMD chip or even the same brand, but if they are suffering from the same fault I think they should replace them at no charge. Even if the warranty has expired, this is still a manufacturing defect.

I see some great customer service happening in this thread. This same effort should be put out on behalf of any customer who's DMD chip fails in this manner.
