There are THOUSANDS of posts about that message but here's the kicker. With a pre-installed OS such as comes with the usual name you don't own the required repair DVD. I've watched folk try to fix this without the right DVD (yes you can buy them but keep in mind, that's pretty expensive) but they are used to repairing Windows.

I'd save your files and restore the OS from the supported restore media or from the boot options to restore to factory after you are sure the files are safe.
