Samsung Brightside- Instant Messaging?

I used to have a Samsung Strive, which had mobile IMs (MSN, YIM, and AIM), which I used frequently. But, AT&T decided that mobile IMs were too good for non-smartphone users, even if you had a feature phone like mine that could use it, and disabled the ability to use them. I left AT&T after finding Cricket, and picked up a Samsung Brightside. Various places list the Brightside as being able to use mobile IMs, but that's the only thing I see on the topic.

How would one go about using IM services on the Brightside?

This is running the BREW MP app platform.

I happen to write apps at the office and we decided years ago that BREW was a too little, too late system. Even if we were able to get an app out there the users on such phones are too few to get the price of the app done to a few bucks.

I'd find a way out of this one and move to any smart phone.
