Cell Phone Issues: Pantech Link P7040 & PC Suite Software
by normliam - 12/12/12 12:20 AM
i downloaded the pc software suite software from pantechusa.com and i cannot get the software to recognize my phone (Pantech Link P7040) via bluetooth connection! i'm extremely frustrated..i've opened the com ports the software has asked for and managed to get the phone to "connect" for a second or so but then when i go to do any other part of the programs ability (contact transfers, file explorer, etc) the program says the phone is not connected. yet it is! i'm using windows vista 32 bit and the software is supposed to be compatible. any ideas please? anyone else have a pantech cell phone they can't get to connect to their spectacular software?
here's the link to where i got the download(s) from
http://www.pantechusa.com/support/link
p.s. i do not have a USB cable for this proprietary style connection on this phone..it's not a type of connection you can find even at a RadioShack. So i have bluetooth on my computer and the computer is able to send files and receive files from my phone through the widcomm provided windows software. so why won't this PC Suite Software do what I'm telling it to do and connect via the bluetooth com port?
thank you for any help
p.s.s I'm guessing it's because my phone does not have the right profile in it's bluetooth abilities to communicate with the software. the list of services my phone does bluetooth is File Transfer (OBEX), A2DP Source, DIal Up Networking (DUN), Headset Audio Gateway, Object Push (OBEX) and Remotely Controllable Device.
