Upgrade for teen, Droid Razr M or Nokia Lumia 822?

Our son just turned 16 and has had a very old Accolade which he was only using as an emergency phone with no texting, online or anything else. We'd like to upgrade for a smartphone which he can begin using full function. He is not very picky and rarely asks for things. He'd appreciate good connection, easy music downloads and texting...probably some gaming. We don't want to go over a $50 upgrade so these are the two we're looking at.

Nokia Lumia 822
Droid Razr M

They seem to have the features we are looking for but want to get input before picking one up. He's thinking of giving up the iPod and instead having just one device that includes music downloads. I am a techie dummy so any comments and/or advice is appreciated!

No developer I know is going near that or Windows 8 RT. All the folk I know are waiting for the lights to come back on at that company.

My son who is 19 got a Virgin Mobile android about 1.5 years ago. I just flipped to them from Sprint for simple reasons such as they didn't update in 2 years and service worsened in areas I travel. At least I don't pay much.

My general feeling was to stick to the Doid so...The Razr M it is! Thanks!

I'd probably stay away from Windows Phone for now

He will likely enjoy the Android experience/flexibility a lot more IMO. In that sense, I would suggest you pick the Droid Razr M. I think it's even priced now @ Verizon for $.01 for new lines of service(?)
