Question about phone data tethering and internet phones.

I've been thinking about dropping my Bell internet service and go with an unlimited data plan with my smart phone. Ideally, I would use the phone to tether data bia WIFI hotspot or USB connected to computer. This can be easiliy done and I know how. I currently do this with my limited data plan.
The question is, however, how do I setup my internet phone? Right now, my home phone is connected to a special internet phone box provided by the phone service company via phone line, and it is then connect to the Bell modem via ethernet cable. If I choses to use my smart phone, how do I solve the ethernet cable connection?
My guess would be somehow use a PC in between? Since it has ethernet ports... I don't know..

Nope- you still need broadband service

If you use a internet based phone over your (land-based) broadband service, when you cancel it, your phone will no longer work. If you have a separate POTS (analog) telephone line/service, then you could cancel your land-based broadband w/ no consequences to your phone service.

Also, keep in mind the carriers can detect such unauthorized ethering, and it's quite easy for them to either cancel your service, throttle your speeds or make you pay a penalty fee. YMMV. Also, are you certain your bucket of cellular data can hold up to even moderate internet tethering w/ a PC(?) Food for thought, anyway.
