I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (the first one). I have had it for the last 2 months. Recently, I am facing a problem with the call function. Whenever I try to make a call by tapping on the "Phone" option from the home screen, the dial-pad shows up. But as I press to make a call, e.g. the number is (516) 555-5555, I just press 5, or 51 or 516 or even more, but not the whole number, the screen disappears. It's not the phone screen that disappears but the dial-pad screen that disappears & goes back to the home screen. I may have to do this 4-5 times to be able to successfully press all the 10-digit of the phone number & quickly to make the call. I can't do it in one shot.
I'm not sure what is causing this problem. But it's really annoying.
Please help me to resolve the issue.

Many of those apps can interfere so the first step is similar to Windows, you start clean.

What do you mean clean? I clean the browser's cache, cookies, history, password everyday.
Android is well, the new Windows.

Look for the words HARD RESET in your user manual. All installed apps are tossed and it's is now clean. If that fails then you go to the cell carrier's service counter and show them what's broke.
Samsung rarely is involved on this one.

I just chatted with a Samsung phone expert online about the issue. They suggested clearing the cache memory of the phone & try to see if the problem persists. Luckily, that solved the issue (at least as it looks like for now). No problem in typing the numbers now no matter how long it takes for me to press all 10 digits.
Sounds like a bug to me.

As Samsung doesn't write the OS and most of the Apps it's going to be as hard as Windows today when you find a bug like this.
Glad you avoided the hard reset.
I wonder if this bug is similar to that other bug with messaging where it fails when your Smartphone's free memory is less than 1 megabyte?

Yeh, I think it might be a bug. I'm not sure about the messaging problem. Haven't experienced that yet.

Yeh, it looks like a serious bug that may be is still alive.
But the good thing for me is I don't use text messaging system through T-mobile.
After installing Google Voice, I've been using that & my friends text me on my Google Voice number which I believe is unlimited (so far as it looks).
