Best prepaid smart phone and wireless provider

I've been with T-Mobile prepaid for about 3 years now and I have been very pleased with their service; much more than with the prepaid service I had with AT&T previously. Currently I have a basic no frills Samsung T-139 flip phone but would like to move up to a prepaid Smart Phone; a phone I could use for calls; texting; and some web use. I won't be doing Twitter or Facebook on it but a camera on it would be nice.

What do many here consider to be one of the best prepaid Smart Phone models at the low to mid end of the scale and which wireless provider or providers are best to go with? I'm interested in a low cost plan since I do not use my current T-Mobile phone a lot. I don't use a phone enough to have to pay $50.00 or more each month. I'd like something cheaper if available but if not I'll just stay where I'm at.

Here where I live I give the nod to Virgin without much grief. Check out what 35 a month gets you and what Android phones you can pick up.

Simple Mobile would work for you w/ T-Mo coverage

Keep in mind that 'best' is relative to one's needs/situation. Depending on where you live/need service, switching to another carrier/MVNO might not be ideal if you lose coverage, etc. Always factor in that before price. Learn which networks the prepaid providers (MVNOs) utilize for their service. For example, H20 uses ATT's native network. Simple Mobile uses T-Mo's. Virgin, which Bob suggested, runs on Sprint's network.

The truth is that there is no single carrier that is the best in every location across the country. How good a phone is can be subjective depending on the user's needs/wants.
