Smartphone Choice

I need to upgrade from my droid X (which I loved) to a new phone. I am stuck with Verizon, as they are the only provider with service in my area. I am looking at the Droid Razr Maxx or the Sumsung Galaxy S3. I use my phone most for web browsing, facebook, e-mail, etc. I have read reviews on both phones,but am having trouble deciding. Any thoughts or suggestions would be gratly appreciated.

criteria

Battery life is important, but I'm not adverse to just purchasing a back up battery
Price not so much
I like a large screen & fast web surfing
Latest OS not a necessity

...is the Motorola Razr Maxx, based on your criteria. I use the Motorola Razr (not the Maxx) and it serves those requirements well. It currently doesn't have the new ICS Android update, but it is pending. Just my $.02 worth.

I thoroughly reviewed the Samsung S3 and the Razr Maxx. The razor has a little bit better camera, the Galaxy is a little bit better in other ways. It's almost 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another EXCEPT FOR ONE THING: BATTERY LIFE OF THE RAZR MAXX IS OUTRAGEOUS. So I bought the maxi and I'm glad of it.

Consider data plan issue

I was trying to hold out for the samsung But verizon won't release it until july. they are doing this because unlimited data plans are being dropped on the end of June. So if you currently have an unlimited data plan you will lose it if you wait to buy the galaxy in july
