You would maybe benefit form browsing some of the older threads in the forum, I think. That's quite a lot of questions for a single new thread . IMO most of the phones you listed could handle most of what's on your 'wish' lists. Just check their specifications online on the Verizon & ATT web sites to be sure.

I'll take a shot at answering some of the low hanging fruit.

FWIW, ATT has an app/feature called ATT messages. That would let you access you VM on several platforms/devices. More info:

What caller id info appears doesn't always include what we want/need. Some times it's the standard name/number, other times it's 'wireless number'/xxx-xxx-xxxx or 'Beaverton, OR' xxx-xxx-xxxx, or even 'Private'. You won't have control over most of this unless it's in your contacts. Look up Caller ID in wikipedia (& CNAM in google) to see what info there helps you understand why this is.

FWIW, yes, there are people who have had an iPhone but switched to something else. I'd say the converse is likely to be the norm though. It's a very popular phone for a good reason IMO and E. And you do not need a Mac to sync/transfer documents/info. A PC would suffice just fine. There's also the iCloud too. If you do end up with an iPhone, start with at least a 16GB version. It's really easy once you start downloading apps and shooting video to fill up the internal memory w an 8GB model. A 32GB is even more future proof for nearly all typical users IME. For example, my wife's app library is quite small, but she shoots a ton of video & pics that filled up her smaller capacity versions rather quickly. Similar, my apps & (only partial- for 'on the go') music/movie library fill up almost two entire iPods.
