Need help boosting cell signel

I just moved to a small area with about 3000 people and my new home gets only about 1 bar sometimes 1 bar of 3G. My brother and I are both using the iPhone 4 though AT&T. I bought a 850mhz cell repeater for my home and installed it in several places (including placing the outside cell antenna on the roof and running the inside one though a window) It doesn't seem to help much at all. My question is: is there any way i can improve on this cell repeater system? Or maybe even use parts from it to build a better one? If anyone knows where I can find instructions to do something like this it would be a lifesaver!

IME with repeaters, you have to spend at least $400-500 just for starters to get a solid system that covers the whole house. Wilson makes some of the best equipment IMO and E.

Is your system set up with an external rooftop antenna that has been properly directed towards the closest cell site?

Bottom line is though, if you only get *barely* one bar outside, you can't expect it to be much better indoors, even with a repeater, short of the immediate vicinity of the actual device.

Is there broadband service in your town/location? If so. you might be able to use a femtocell.

Are you certain your 3G service is 850MHz? Normally you want to employ a dual band (850/1900) device so it can work with all the carriers/maximize possibilities with any one carrier.
