Unless you want to have the LG 7000 that records and sends 15 second videos and has no speaker. Your best bet is the 6100. My wife and I upgraded to the 6100 and it is the nicest and best phone I have ever used or seen. The features are off the hook and it is the "mack daddy" of them all. Plus, you won't go broke buying it. I am so happy I went with my instinct...I can't put it down and the web browser and cool tool. There is no doubt that you will love it. There are not many phones you can compare to the 6100. ![]()

This is just plain outrageous: I can't believe that LG would stoop to peppering various message boards with false praising messages. The LG 6100 is the WORST phone I've ever used. Barely any battery life; all the features (e.g. camera) that you don't won't -- NONE that you DO (e.g. sustaining calls, audible speakerphone, decent battery life).

I just bought the LG6100 and couldn't love it more. I upgraded from a LG4400 which I was very happy with but it was starting to show its age and such...but this 6100 is great! its everything that I have been looking for. Sure the pictures aren't as crisp as you want them to be but hey its a phone =] thats why I have a digital camera
Although it was very nice to have my dog as my desktop pattern on my phone. I have noticed there aren't that many Getitnow stuff there just yet from Verizon...but all in all if you were waiting for a great trimode phone this one is a wonderful one and I would recommend it...sorry that some people have had issues with it mine is working great!

I don't work for LG. You are the one slandering a good phone. Because you most likely got a lemon. I only call things the way I see them and if you notice, there are more positive reports than negative and I am sure these people don't work for LG either. I am not getting paid for speaking the truth my friend. Go to consumer reports and search web phones. They have the LG 6100 as one as the best for the price and they are an Independent company (consumer reports that is).
Face it, it is a good top selling phone that most people enjoy. I could see if you are the type that jabs on a phone all day that your battery might go low fast. But, the average person does not stayed with a phone glued to their ear all day long. So, maybe this LG phone is not designed for your needs. Nevertheless it is a good phone that charges really fast while you are talking on it.

I've had this phone for about 3 weeks and liked it well enough to get one for my wife, who is a technophobe. The menues are easy to use without much reading of the manual. The internal screen is brilliant colors. The external screen is B&W, but really doesn't need to be color and I'd rather pay for the internal screen. The keys are backlighted, which I really like for dialing at night. The voice activated commands work well without training, but the woman's voice that says "calling" sure sounds sultry! I do like the driving mode, other command options. This is a well thought out phone! Camera is VGA, not bad considering the limits of that resolution. The phone is so new that Verizon hasn't posted much software yet, but seems to be posting more on a regular basis via GetItNow. {Power connector is a little different from LG VX6000, so don't expect you can use same adapters without checking. The phone is tri-mode, but on a drive across rural Illinois on interstate, I never saw the analog activate. It works well at our house, as good or better than my old Motorola. All in all, I'm very pleased, and I did buy one for my wife, so I'm trusting my marriage to it.

My wife and I love the 6100s. Only problem is that they are so new on the market that they don't have desktop chargers with the extra slot for the battery. We like to have a spare battery for each phone. In case the battery in the phone is close to dead, we can pop in a freshly charged one. We were going to by extra sets of batteries. But, without the desktop charger. We decided to wait. Also, they were trying to sell us the long life battery for the 6100. But, the battery is twice as wide and we wanted to keep our phones sleek without the balk of a wider battery. The antenna comes off very easy...all you have to do is lightly unscrew it and you still get a full signal depending on where you are. When the antenna is off, you can put the 6100 in an empty cigarette pack. Who ever thought you could get a phone smaller than a pack of smokes and it is a great phone to bat..
I am on my secound LG-VX6100 and am very disappointed with it. I had a LG 5250 and loved it, but this 6100 really stinks. The reception can be terrible. The layout and menu is nice, it's nice to look at, but as a phone ??? My friends think I'm loseing my hearing. I have trouble hearing most calls unless I'm talking to someone on a landline. Be very carefull that you can return this phone if you get it.

rmatt, you must have got a lemon or you live in the sticks. I have 2 6100's and they are both loud as a bell and on one of my 6100's I unscrew the antenna to make it even more compact and it still works like a champ. So, what you should do is take your phone back and report the defects on the low sound output or whatever the problem is. I live in New York and I was talking to my friend in California and he said I sounded like I was like next door and I had my antenna off to bat. So, good luck in getting your phone fixed or exchanged for one that has no flaws.
I previously had a VX6000 which irritated me enough to eventually damage it. The biggest thing that irritated me with the VX6000 was the keypad. I simply could not feel where the buttons were. So, I spent quite a bit of time feeling a couple phones I was considering until I decided on the VX6100. I actually liked the feel of the VX7000 better, but decided I could tolerate the VX6100 in order to get the speaker phone option, get the TriMode option, and pay less for the phone. I wasn't attracted to the video feature (of the VX7000) at all and felt the TriMode was a better experience (over the 'all digital') based on my previous ownership of a Motorola StarTac that was also a TriMode phone.
So... I've now had the phone nearly a week and feel very comfortable with it. My only disappointments are not having a desktop battery charger and the fact a game I had on the VX6000 (Backgammon) is not currently available for the VX6100. The call quality seems comparable to other phones (good) and I'm no longer dropping calls--which I now attribute to my previous phone being, ahem, damaged.
Oh yes... driving mode. A seemingly nice feature that's new to me. When I have the headset plugged in, however, the speaker phone is still used rather than the headset. I suspect either my phone is defective with regards to that feature or the feature is in need of some tweaking. I'll be dealing with that issue shortly.
Overall... I'm happy with the phone after one week of ownership and use.

I have to agree with you, the 6100 is the best bet. the 7000 is cool with the 15 second video But, it has no speaker. So, for a cheaper price you get a much nicer phone with the 6100. As far as games go. I got the Mrs. Pac-man and it is a nice old school game. I paid a one shot price for the game and now I own the game.
Also, being the phone is still very new on the market, they have not come out with the desktop charger yet. But, I talked to the company and they are going to be putting a new one out after the new year. So, I am going to hold off on getting an extra battery till the desktop charger comes out, it will have an extra slot to charge the spare while you are charging your phone. I am also going to get the USB PC cable to download any pics I take and upload my phone with any needed data. The 15 second video is just a gimmick. I compared both the 7000 and the 6100 and the 6100 has a sleeker look to it, it fits better in your hand, the voice commands work like a champ and without the case, it fits into an empty pack of cigarettes. Also, the antenna screws off very easily for whatever floats your boat. I use it with no antenna and I have all the bars and never a dropped a call.
there is always going to be complaints on any phone a person gets. But, there is not too much you can complain about the 6100. The driving mode is cool as well.
I hope you enjoy it. I will post when the desktop charger comes out.
You mention a data cable for downloading pictures. Where can I get one? The data cable that verizon sells is only for connecting a laptop to the phone for the purpose of connecting to the internet. I've had no luck finding one for DL pictures. Would appreciate any info. Thanks.
Go to Verizon wireless on the Verizon wireless web site and click on phones and find the 6100, once you do that click for accessories for the LG 6100 and you will have no problem. Or go to www.google.com and type in accessories for the LG 6100 and you should find the USB cable or type in USB cable for LG 6100.
It is about $20. Good Luck and have fun.

with my wifes phone from nextel ( new i850 camera phone ) the gave her a site to download the media downloader, from Motorola . Verison said that only their equipment would work for this phone . They lied to us . Whats new about that .Thanks in advance .
I'm really interested in this phone, but heard early on that there was a volume bug, where there's a silence before you can speak when answering a call. No one has mentioned this recently ... is this bug fixed?
Also, is this a metal or plastic phone?

LG 6100 volume bug fixed?

I have stated a few times that both my lg 6100's work "Jhonny on the spot" as soon as I take a call. All the people I work with don't have one problem with one thing on their 6100's.
You might have heard about a few phones that had a flaw. But, it is clear there is no problem with them now. There are too many people I know that don't have any problems with them...including me.
So, go for it. If by chance it is not working correctly. Simply go to verizon to have it exchanged. But, I highly doubt you will have to do that. Because any problems they might have had have been fixed.
Good Luck:)
Volume Bug....

Glad someone mentioned the volume bug....I thought it was just me. My phone does the same thing! I guess I will take it back to exchange. Great phone though!
I'm not sure if I've got the volume bug that everyone else has mentioned, but for awhile it seemed like I had to turn the volume down on every incoming call. I haven't noticed it as much lately, for whatever reason.
And something that I've noticed - and I have no idea if this concern has any merit or not - but I can't get the digital "D" to appear on my phone indicating that digital calling is available. I had that on my prior LG phone (which is prehistoric by today's standards) but can't get it to appear on this one. I'd love to hear any suggestions on that. (And I'm confident location isn't the issue.)
But all in all, I can't complain about the phone. I'm not a heavy web/photo user and I've been satisfied.
I swithched from cingular to Verizon about 6 months ago. I purchased two 6100 phones and have been very happy with them. My wife was leaving her phone on but in her purse stuck in her desk which built like a solid steel vault. Her battery was dieing quicker than mine. I purchased a new batter but no change. what was happening was the phone was loosing he signal in the desk and searching all day. this uses more power. once she started wearing the phone, the battery issue went away. We have the same problem as other folks with the silence when you start speaking. I will have to check out exhcanging. buy the phone it is great.
LG-VX6100 extendable/retractable antenna
I just switched from Cingular to Verizon and have had my phones for about a week. I have had good service from them so far. My only complaint is that I broke my belt clip holder that came with it. The round part where it swivels cracked. Now it swivels very loosely and falls off if I catch it on something. Other than that they seem pretty good.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with those aftermarket extendable/retractable antennas that supposedly boost your signal strength. You see, I live in the boonies where alot of the time you are running on one bar of signal. Surprisingly enough I can make and recieve calls when the signal dips that low. I'm might also be looking for some kind of outside antenna, like a car roof antenna or one for the house. I'm trying to see what kind of signal boosters I can get because I'm moving from a town that has full strength signal, to one that has nearly none 10 miles down the road. Any help would be appreciated.

I know this thread is very old but I wanted to post my experience. I may be one of the few remaining owners and lovers of the LG VX6100, which I bought at the end of 11/04. It has been wonderful, in my opinion. It has been dropped a gazillion times, is somewhat banged up, and the front window is cracked. I even tried one Samsung and 2 LG models over the last few years and gave them back.
I recently searched for this model and found some being sold on eBay by a company called unlimitedcellular.com. I bought one of them along with a new belt clip/holster. The phone was called "refurbished, like new" and I can safely say that it looked excellent. The only problem was it had a weaker signal than my current one so I got an RMA # from the vendor and sent it back hopefully for another that works at least as good as mine and looks like new also.
Like the last prior poster (in '05), my original holster broke at the ring that goes around the pivot. I tried living with it, then ordered a supposed replacement which broke right away, then tried other types of "leather" holsters, none satisfying. I now have my old VX6100 in the new holster I just got from eBay.
The main reasons I stick with the VX6100 is that is has more flexible menus, contact list and calendar entries than the newer models which all have common software and more restrictive contact list entries regardless of brand and model.
