Cell phones forum: please help me choose the right phone

this should be easy,at least if you know what you are doing, something I obviously don`t..so please help me with your point of view on what would be the best celular phone for my particular case :
I had the Viewty and quite liked it, changed to Xperia which for my needs was a disaster..and now I want to change again, but improving, if possible, on the Viewty. My problem is that at 47 my eyesight is not perfect , which is the reason why I totally dislike the Xperia...I cannot read the directory at all. Yes, I would like a decent camera, although frankly no phone cam I have come acrosss yet is quite a match for a decent little compact camera (read - Casio slim), no I do not want to surf the internet, at all...yes, I do like a querty keyboard, yes, I do like games and at times I write sms messages...BUT the most important thing is : I actually would like to be able to read the directory without having to put my reading glasses on... Who knows, maybe the Viewty is the perfect phone for me and getting a new one (the last one suffered somehow from too much exposure to dust and humidity) may be the best option... I am very disspointed (..as if that wasn`t clear by now) with the Xperia, as I imagined that this was an "ultimate" phone, whereas in fact I think there are too many gadgets and not enough usefull features...
Thanks for your help, much appreciated (oh and by the way : Xperia is not a good phone to drop too often..the battery case flies off with no problem, which as a consequence exposes the battery...mine has fallen down about 4 or 5 times and could really do with being replaced now - I had to literally throw it to the floor today to get it back to work..)
