Just curious if anyone has used the Hawaiian carrier Mobi PCS and what their experience was/is?

I put in several hundred dollars for one hele 3 g internet USB toggle and 2 phones.
1-Wireless internet took awhile to hook up each time you turn on your laptop as you need to power up their software and get it to ignore the Wfi and routers from businesses around you. By the time I got things going, I had very little time to do what I needed to do on the net. If you're going to kill a lot of time (an hour or so) then it's worth it, otherwise it's a no-no for lunch or a break time. Speed was considerably slower than most people are used to (Cable, DSL). The toggle is extremely expensive; almost $200!
Pro: half the price of most wireless internet lap top plans and limitless usage...(the other carriers have a 3 to 5 gigs limit which will eat up very quickly if you need to download anything major.)
2-The Cell phones Mobi offer are terrible and you pay premium price. If you're someone used to getting the newest models for nothing or near nothing, paying full price is going to come as a shock. I had the family plan which was just under $90 for two lines, unlimited.
But then you need to cough up an additional $10 for texting...and $4 for messaging...and $30 for web browsing...and soon you are paying close to what you would with one of the major carriers without the free phone.
Calls can be spotty and I've had more dropped calls with Mobi than all the other carriers combined. I also dislike having to have my bills automatically deducted...it's always easier to dispute a charge than to get a refund. There is no internet site to make a payment on. Their customer service isn't abusive, just not interested. I had the ability to bring 5 different accounts over (family and friends whose contracts had ended)...but it took a day before anyone in Mobi's management called me back to address my concern.
Pro: No contract which allowed me to leave after a month of "trying it out." Of course, it cost me about $400 since their trial period is 1/2 an hour (or less) of talk time or one week. After that you own the phone and the $200 toggle, which you try to sell on Craigs list...
Very poor Mobi/Hele treatment for Seniors
What this party forgot or didn't find out was even more important. On the wifi side, they start you out at a good speed and then they cut you down to phone modem speed after several months. You complain, and they slow you down more. I pay for UNLIMITED. UNLIMITED to them is 90 minutes or 45 megabytes a day, which ever comes first. They have just come out with a new set of rules and now plan on adding a charge when you go over. Contracts don't mean anything to them except you have to pay. All of the top people in the company (45 people) are Nextel ejects, and we do know about Nextel; it's gone. The Sales VP has a great history; several of the companies that she came from have gone broke or out of business. They claim that they make between 10 to 25 million net a year, but pay min. wage. They DO NOT return phone calls. I currently have a download speed of 1.5 to 3 KBS, ah yes they do say you will get AS MUCH AS 3.1meg/per /min. = about 60 KBS. The bandwidth is so overloaded that you will average phone modem speed. About the help, go fish! Example: I was talking to one of the "Assistants" about world history. I mentioned Bonaparte as a great king. She asked when he was king of Hawaii; she didn't hear about him in her history classes at University of Hawaii. To her credit, she did have an impressive chest. Use your own judgment about Mobi/Hele. Me, I'm still with them just so I can tell the world how bad they really are, and show anyone that wants to see how my system runs.
