Cell phones forum: New Cell Phone Recommendations

Keep in mind an unlocked phone only really applies to a GSM carrier (not CDMA- Alltel or Verizon), which probably won't help you much depending on how rural you are per se. If you gave a zip code it would be easier to first figure out what service is available in your location, then you could perhaps determine if an unlocked handset would apply in your case. Which of the Verizon phones appeal to you? If you look at their web site and report back what you see model-wise. That seems like an easier way to go IMO.

Would you be leaning more towards something like:

Blackberry? (Many models)

Voyager/enV2?

Treo/MotoQ/Other smartphone?

Alias?

Seeing as you seem to value txting a lot, the Alias's keyboard may seem a bit cramped to you.

So basically, one major thing we would probably love to know is do you need/want a smart phone?

If yes, I recommend Blackberry Curve.

If no, opt for the Voyager or enV2 (Voyager has touchscreen and 3G, not sure if you need those)

I am in a rural are which only has the major carriers here, and of those, only Verizon has 3G.
I send about 7,500 messages a month.

I am fine with Edge, and care more about the features of the phone as long as it has Wi-Fi.

need a good phone. pls recommend any good cell phone.
