Cell phones forum: Verizon too skimpy on text messages.

I have Verizon Wireless and on Family Share plans, if you cancel all 4 phones, it's $175 x's 4 phones = $700 for a total cost of terminating all 4 phones. When my mom & sister canceled service with Cingular in 2002, they paid a $300 early termination fee ($150 x's 2 phones). If we had been in another part of Indiana, it would have costed $420 ($210 x's 2 phones) because in some Indiana markets (NW Indiana not included because it's part of the Chicago market) he early termination fee $240, based on the life of a contract. When my mom renewed for 2 years, then cancels 3 months into a 2 year contract, it would have costed her more money, but it costs more money if she lived in an area where there was less time left on the contract, and paid the flat fee. You might want to take birdmantd's advice and check Verizon Wireless in your area about the early termination fee per phone. If you live in a pro-rated market, the cost might not be as much as it would be in you live in a market where the termination fee is a flat rate. Since my phone is setup in the Chicago market, it's a flat rate of $175 per phone.
