Verizon National Single Rate vs. Verizon America's Choice

Has anyone switched their plan with Verizon and noticed a significant drop in service and/or quality? I was recently sold on changing plans and upgrading my phone. I was on the National Single rate plan with a Kyocera 6035 tri-mode, which now I am told covered 100% of the country where there is existing service. It is now 90% of the country with the America's Choice Plan. After a recent business trip I am switching phones from my new tri-mode LG vx4650 to a tri-mode LG vx6100 but, I suspect that the phone is not the total problem. My old tri-mode Kyocera 6035 and my old single rate plan were stellar. I can count on two hands the number of dropped calls, missed calls forwarded to voice mail when it should not have, broken/garbled conversations, busy signals during the past four years. Actuall still had the original battery. My sneaking suspicion is that Verizon analized where they were not making a 50/50 payback on sharing towers and customers so they cut the bottom 10% off for the new America's Choice Plan and I happen to travel in those areas..............
Maybe I am wrong and the new phone will resolve the issues.......any thoughts or similar experiences out there from anyone?
